About LIT Outdoor Lighting

LIT Outdoor Lighting is a family-owned outdoor lighting company built on hard work, strong relationships, and a love for helping homeowners enjoy their outdoor spaces. What started with Jonathan and Melissa handling every part of the business themselves has grown into a trusted local company serving Covington and the surrounding Louisiana communities.

Jonathan and Melissa were married in Florida in 2014 and began building their life together soon after. Their daughter, Mia, was born in Florida in 2017, and the family later moved to Northwest Indiana, where their son, Leo, was born in 2019. During that season of life, they were raising two young children, working hard, and thinking about the future they wanted to create for their family.

How LIT Outdoor Lighting Began

Before starting LIT Outdoor Lighting, Jonathan worked for a company that specialized in hardscapes, landscaping, and outdoor lighting. That experience introduced him to the impact great lighting can have on a home. He saw how the right design could improve safety, highlight landscaping, add curb appeal, and make outdoor spaces more enjoyable after dark. They both could see the potential for what they were building together, and that decision became an important turning point for both their family and the company.

A New Chapter in Louisiana

In 2022, Jonathan and Melissa relocated their family to Covington, Louisiana. The move allowed Melissa to leave her hospital work while also giving LIT Outdoor Lighting the chance to operate year-round in a warmer climate instead of dealing with harsh Indiana winters.

Today, Jonathan, Melissa, Mia, and Leo live in the same neighborhood as Melissa’s sister and father. That closeness means a lot because family is at the center of everything they do. True to his Upstate NY roots, Jonathan is still a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan (Go Bills!).

Built From the Ground Up

In the beginning, LIT Outdoor Lighting was truly a two-person operation. Jonathan and Melissa handled sales, marketing, scheduling, customer service, installations, operations, and everything in between.

As the company continued to grow, so did the team. In 2025, they hired their first full-time employee, Mike, who quickly became a huge asset. In 2026, Blake joined as their second full-time employee, marking another exciting step forward.

Family, Work, and the Outdoors Brings It Together

Outside of work, Jonathan and Melissa spend much of their time supporting their children and enjoying life together. Mia loves volleyball and softball, while Leo is currently all about dirt bikes and four-wheelers and is already learning how to pop wheelies.

As a family, they love camping, traveling, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors. They value a simple, grounded life built around relationships, hard work, and quality time with the people they love.

That same mindset guides LIT Outdoor Lighting. Every project is an opportunity to help another family enjoy a safer, more beautiful, and more welcoming home.

They were so punctual and wonderful to work with! They gave us some ideas done up on their iPad to show us and we were amazed. They came out a week later to do the install and it came out beautifully! We see so many people slowly drive by our house and stop to look. They did such a great job!
