When working with wire, there are a plethora of choices when it comes to connectors. This may seem like a minor detail, but the connection site is the most integral part of a lighting system. There is a chance of failure at every single connection site which is why it should be given the most attention. Most people have seen and are comfortable with a traditional wire nut. They are easy to use and quick to slip on. However, you will never find us using one in the field! Wire nuts can easily slip off leaving exposed wire as shown below. This not only results in your light failing, but also presents a fire hazard. Wire nuts do not create an airtight seal which can cause the wires to arc resulting in a ground fire. The lack of an airtight seal also allows moisture to get in which will ultimately cause failure.
Safety and functionality are at the top of our priority list for every install. For this reason, we only use heat shrink connections. Good luck pulling these apart! The elasticity in the tubing holds strong even when bent and manipulated. These solid connections are the number one reason we guarantee our installations every time.
